Upon arrival at Barcelona El Prat Airport, transfer to our hotel in the morning. There will be time for
a lunch and walk around the shops on La Rambla. The free time can be used to visit the Plaza Reial,
Maritime Museum, Arts Santa Monica, Wax Museum or shop at Maremagnum by the sea. In the
afternoon, our tour guide will take us in an air-conditioned coach to make a pilgrimage to Santa
Maria de Montserrat, a monastery near Barcelona and one of Spain’s key religious sites. Scale
Montserrat Mountain on the cogwheel train, enjoying striking vistas of the mountain’s surreal rock
formations and Barcelona off in the distance. Then visit Benedictine Santa Maria de Montserrat
abbey and the Royal Basilica of Monserrat, where you’ll view La Moreneta (the Dark One) a 12-
century carving of Our Lady of Montserrat, and sample four local liquors at the on-site gift shop.
We will return at night with time to refresh ourselves before being welcomed to Spain by a late-
evening Flamenco Show at the Barcelona City Hall or Los Tarantos Barcelona.

Day 3: Monday (3 Sept 2018)
Today, we will spend the day delving into Barcelona and all her glory. In the morning, enjoy a
leisurely sightseeing stroll of the remarkable architecture, distinctive fountains and statues.
Navigate the labyrinth of medieval streets of the Barri Gòtic (Gothic Quarter) and gaze at the
splintering spire of Barcelona’s Cathedral, Town Hall and more as you head towards Place Sant
Jaume. Return to our coach to enjoy sweeping vistas of the Mediterranean Sea as you ascend to the
Olympic Village. See monuments from the Olympics and then continue your ascent to Montjuic Hill
to see the city’s impressive skyline from a unique vantage point; visit the Spanish Village to see a
diverse architectural tableau inspired by different Spanish regions. Enjoy sweeping city vistas from
the summit of Montjuic Hill while visiting the ancient Montjuic Castle in a cable car. Capture
fantastic photographs from the vertiginous position of the ancient fortress. Return to sea level for a
hearty lunch included in this trip. Continue the afternoon on a tour of Antoni Gaudi’s modernist
masterpieces; marvel at the architectural eccentricity of UNESCO World Heritage-listed La Sagrada
Familia, to gaze at the sky-piercing spires. Visit Park Güell on a priority-access pass and hear the
story behind the artist whose work is so prevalent in Barcelona. We will conclude the tour by
wandering down Passeig de Gràcia, a boulevard home to two of Gaudi’s artistic expressions, La
Pedrera and Casa Batlló. Choose a nice restaurant to end the day with a dinner at own expense.

Day 4: Tuesday (4 Sept 2018)
We will discover three countries today with a full-day tour to Baga, Ax Les Thermes, and Andorra
from Barcelona. First stop is to Baga, a beautiful village shrouded in medieval heritage. Marvel at
the majestic perimeter of rocky peaks in the Cadi-Moixero National Park as we arrive at Baga. Enjoy
a fresh pastry or sandwich in a local bakery and a coffee in one of many typical cafes. Our guide will
take us on a walking tour of the village, leaving some free time to explore Baga on our own. From
Baga, head deeper into the countryside as you ride toward the French border. Our next stop is the
charming and beautiful ancient spa town of Ax Les Thermes. Our guide will recommend some of the
best natural fountains to visit and those best suitable for soaking your feet in. We are then free to
enjoy the healing waters and browse the local artisan shops where you can buy local cheeses and
cured meats. After an hour of wandering around this typical French village, it’s time to choose from
one of the many local restaurants for a traditional French lunch at own expense. After a memorable
French experience, we will meet back at the bus to head toward the small but stunning country of
Andorra. Our route takes us through the beautiful Pyrenees Alps to Andorra la Vella, the capital of
Andorra. Cross the Pas de la Casa, an amazing high-mountain pass with some stunning photo
opportunities. As we descend into Andorra, we will stop off at a typical mountain valley where we
will get a glimpse of how Andorra used to be. Tiny stone huts dot the mountainside, a Roman
church stands guard as it has done for centuries. There will be a chance to enjoy a brief hike to get
away from it all. From here, head down the valleys into Andorra de la Vella. This will be the last
stop of the day, but there’ll be time to do a little bit of duty-free shopping. At about 4pm, return to
the bus and head back to Barcelona via a different route. This drive takes us though dramatic
gorges, past verdant farmland, and alongside lakes and rivers.

Day 5: Wednesday (5 Sept 2018)
Today will be a light, free & easy day where we can wake up late. See Barcelona from a different
angle. You may use this day to explore deeper into La Sagrada Familia, several museums, the quaint
little shops along La Ramblas, take an early morning jog along the Mediterrean Sea, adventure on a
yacht ride, or simply laze the day away. You can perhaps even join a leisurely bike tour around
Barcelona with a chance to savour tapas, delicious sorbet and drink at a typical tapas bar in the
Gothic quarter. Cycle through the Gothic and Modernist Quarters, see the Monumental (bull ring),
La Sagrada Familia, the old town, the Modernist and Gothic quarters. Stop off at the fascinating
places along the way and learn interesting facts about the history of the city.
In the afternoon, we will be assigned a fun team activity by the President of the Society for
Nutrition, Health & Fitness. Rest & relax, or shop, until the about 6pm, where we will come
together to learn to make Spanish tapas, traditional paella, and sangria with a Barcelona chef. Start
by visiting St. Josep La Boqueria market to collect super-fresh ingredients from local vendors for our
dinner. Then head to the professional cooking school and teaching kitchen in El Born to prepare
hands-on Spanish cuisines, snacks and drinks. Start by preparing a range of tapas, or pintxos, classic
Spanish small plates that are perfectly paired with wine. With a chef cooking alongside you, start
preparing the traditional paella, then as the rice dish simmers on a low flame, you can learn to mix
your own sangria at a short drinks-making workshop. When the paella is done, sit down to the meal
that we’ve prepared, savouring the rich flavour of the rice and seafood (a non-seafood meal option
will be served by the chef for those who don’t eat seafood). And if you’re not ready to finish the
night, you’ll be invited to a nearby bar, where you’ll be treated to a free chupito, or shot, and enjoy

drink specials throughout the evening. We will finish the night with recipes to take back to our
home kitchens.

Day 6: Thursday (6 Sept 2018)
Have a beautiful day in the former Roman town of Tarragona with a private guide from Barcelona.
Drive along the scenic coastline and enjoy the view of the clear blue sea, golden sandy beaches and
rocks. Today, let’s step away from the tourist traps and see the best local spots! Spend a day in
Tarragona located only 100 km south of Barcelona. This lovely town is the former capital of the
province of Tarraconensis which has its own Colosseum and ancient forum archaeological site.
Wander through the streets of Tarragona, right by the city center and enjoy the surrounding
history. Walk through the popular street of Ramblas to La Rambla Nova, where we can taste a
delicious cappuccino, sweet treat or an ice-cream. As we will pass more than 10km of beautiful
sandy beaches on our way we can stop to enjoy the sea breeze and take amazing photos. We can
also take a stop at Arc de Barà or the wonderful beaches at Sitges.
For our last night, we will get a chance to see the city of Barcelona at its most romantic and
enchanting on a night time electric bike tour. The electric bike allows us to cover a lot of ground to
check out the gracefully illuminated building and structures against the black backdrop of the night
sky. Discover hidden, charming spots with our knowledgeable tour guide. Visit the main attractions
of the city: the Jewish district, the magnificent Cathedral, El Borne area with its astonishing
"Cathedral of the Sea” and many more. Then, the e-bike will take you through the Ciutadella Park
to reach the seafront for a refreshing ride on the shores of the Mediterranean. From there we will
move on to Montjuic Hill again from where we now get awe at the beautiful landscape of the city at
sunset. Finally, when the sun goes down, arrive in Plaça d’Espanya, where you will admire the
Magic Fountain of Montjuic and its show of water and lights.

Day 7: Friday (7 Sept 2018)
After breakfast, we will check-out of our hotels and leave for Barcelona El Prat Airport. Our
Singapore Airlines flight SQ387 will depart at 1205 hrs.
Those taking other flights or staying on to explore Spain further will need to make their own

Day 8: Saturday (8 Sept 2018)
Our flight will touch down in Singapore at 0700 hrs on Saturday 8 Sept 2018. Say our goodbyes, this
will be the end of the tour.
